Processing Times
Current processing time for Georgia is 8 to 10 weeks. Processing begins once you have submitted all required documents through GoCertificates.com.

- Processing time is determined by the Georgia State Office of Vital Records, not GoCertificates. Times may vary based on current volume.
- Expedited processing is available and can be selected at checkout, with an estimated turnaround of 5 business days. Note that expedited shipping does not always expedite the state's processing time.
Identification Requirements
All applicants must submit a copy of an accepted form of identification and a copy of proof of relationship (if required). After placing your order, you will need to upload an image of your identification and proof of relationship (if required). Your order will only be processed once a legible copy of identification and proof of relationship (if required) are received along with payment.
Under Georgia Law, Vital Records are restricted documents and can only be requested by individuals who are eligible to receive them (eligibility requirements are described in detail on the appropriate forms).
To protect against identity theft
We require a photocopy of your valid photo ID, such as the following:
- Georgia Driver's license unexpired or expired for not more than one year
- State of Georgia Identification Card unexpired or expired for not more than one year
- Unexpired State of Georgia Weapons Carry License with photo
- Unexpired driver's license issued by another U.S. State, jurisdiction or territory
- Unexpired official Identification Card issued by another U.S. State, jurisdiction or territory
- Unexpired U.S. Passport
- Unexpired Foreign Passport
- Unexpired U.S. Military Identification, Military Dependent Identification, Veteran's Identification
- Unexpired Consulate Card
- Unexpired Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Current School, University, or College Identification Card (unexpired with ID number and signature)
- Department of Driver Services (DDS) Identification Card issued by another U.S. state, jurisdiction or territory unexpired or expired for not more than one year
- Department of Corrections Identification Card expired for not more than a year
Who Can Order a Birth Certificate?
Georgia Vital Records requires all Birth Certificate applicants to submit a valid photo identification. Documents vary depending on the relationship, and are outlined in the table below.
If requesting a birth certificate for a person who is deceased, a certified copy of the death certificate must also be provided.
